Dock Rock ‘09

band-and-stage-with-nice-gv-of-fair-smallerThere will be something for everyone in the Dock Rock line up on Sat August 1st.

It’s been three years since seven thousand live music fans enjoyed the last free event at the Wellington Dock in Dover. This year two stages will allow a constant flow of music from noon ’til ten and the line up will feature ska, punk, latin, and rock with a big nod to the Beatles and Pink Floyd.

For Sittingbourne based Los Salvadores it will be the first of three gigs that day. After doing an early afternoon slot in Dover they will pack up and head off to Croyden to appear alongside The Proclaimers and finish off at a late night gig in Sussex! Local band Hey Rudi will provide the reggae while Folkestone based Electric Beatles will give everyone a chance to enjoy a sing.

For the younger musicians there is a dedicated youth stage where anyone can turn up (even if they have never been in a band) and play alongside members of the local LA Music Club. This popular music group is run under the patronage of Clash drummer Nick Headon whose been known to do a set at Dock Rock in the past. They will open the event in style alongside Steve Ladner from BBC Radio Kent who is a local lad and Lifeboat man. The Lifeboat will be just one of three charities which will benefit from any profits from the day.

It all kicks off at noon with the youth stage opening half an hour later. Get there early because some of the best bands are appearing first in the afternoon line up!
