Riverside Live is the largest free music event in Medway, which takes place at the Command House on Dock Road in Chatham on its very own open-air stage.

It happens all through the summer and the forthcoming dates are 4th and 5th July, 25th and 26th July, 15th and 16th August, 29th/30th and 31st August.
They are all free entry and normally start about 1pm and finish at 10pm, which makes this a fantastic day out for all the family.

Riverside has been going since 2002 and over the years has attracted hundreds of bands from all over Medway and the South East.
Some successful acts that have stepped on to the stage are The Len Price 3, Lupen Crook and The Murderbirds, Up C Down C, The Barbs, Gwyneth Herbert as well as Opus Trees, The Long Weekend, The Lovedays, The Spangalitos and Burn Paper Tigers, the list seems endless, in fact with over 100 bands a year, it might be easier to name the bands that haven’t played!

The line up for the 5th July looks set to be just as good with the Archie Wah Wahs opening the riversideday. The guys are then followed by Neon Skies, Piccadilly Whip, My Last Mistake, The Throwbacks, Donkeys Yawn and Life After Jeff bringing the evening to a close.

The gig is organised on behalf of The Command House by Jay Allen who has been a well-known figure for many years on the Medway music scene.
He says “Riverside can be a great day out and an excellent opportunity for bands from Medway and the whole of the South East to play an open air gig in front of a large audience, hopefully everybody has a good time, so long as the rain holds off.”

Jay is not only responsible for booking bands but is also responsible for the sound on the day and has seen some of the great names from the area walk the Command House stage.
The Command House stage also plays host to a number of other events, which include Oxjam, Love Music Hate Racism, Medway Happenings, and Antfest.

chris-austenRiverside is well known through the area and attracts hundreds of bands and people each summer. It is a fantastic day and can only ever be spoilt by the great British weather however even then the bands and the audience still manage to have a great day all be it a wet one sometimes.
